Exciting Interactive Alphabet Notebook: Practicing Uppercase Letters

I’m always looking for fun ways to introduce my kids to the alphabet. There are some fantastic ideas out there, but our favorites are always something that involves using our hands, cutting, pasting and coloring! I made this Uppercase Interactive Alphabet Notebook to encompass all of those skills into one. There are 26 letters of the alphabet, so we do one or two a day to really focus on the letter at hand. The kids love studying the letter and as a bonus, the notebook makes an adorable keepsake once it’s complete! I can’t wait to share what inside with you.

Inside the Interactive Alphabet Notebook

Inside the Interactive Alphabet Notebook are three different worksheet options to complete for each letter AND a craft. You can have your kids complete one, two or all three of the activities based on their needs and the time you have. Of course, don’t forget the craft. Each craft is an uppercase letter made to look like something that starts with that letter!

The first activity has students tracing the capital and lowercase letter several times. Then, they cut, paste and color images that start with the letter being worked on.

The second activity requires students to color images that start with the letter and leave images that don’t start with that letter alone. Then, the kids cut and paste capital and lowercase letters in different fonts and sort them. They glue them down in their correct groups.

The third activity involves students finding the letter. They can color the circles that hold the letter or they can use a paint dauber to mark them. Then, they stamp the letter, rainbow write it and sticker it! The kids especially like creating the letter using small stickers.

What Type Of Notebook Should I Use?

Once you determine how many activities you would like the students to use, you can purchase your notebooks. If you wish to have the kids complete one activity and the craft, you need a 70 page notebook. If you want them to complete the craft and all three activities, you will need a notebook with 140 pages for each child. I personally love giving them the option to do more activities, especially if you have some fast finishers or want to use them for extra work times.

If you would prefer not to purchase notebooks for each child, you can bind white cardstock (or any color really) together with a binding machine and coils. One benefit to this option is that you can laminate the front and back covers to protect the notebook.

Assembling the Interactive Alphabet Notebook

To start the Interactive Alphabet Notebook, select the front cover from a variety of options. Some options have an image to color and others are blank so students can draw their own picture and color it. They are available in primary or D’Nealian fonts.

Each activity page has dotted lines around the areas the kids need to cut out. Can you say, “Great fine motor practice”? Once the areas are cut out, they paste them into their notebooks to complete. You can choose from primary fonts or D’Nealian fonts.

The crafts can either be colored or students can cut and assemble the parts of the letter. You can print the template on cardstock and trace onto colored paper or you can print the template directly onto colored cardstock to cut out. Both options make adorable visuals for the kids to think about when learning their letters and corresponding sounds.

What Teachers Are Saying About this Interactive Notebook

“This resource turned out to be above and beyond my expectations! You can tell how much time and energy was put into this being organized. She really thought about everything you would need and included it! I couldn’t be happier.”

“This is a fantastic resource that I used with my kindergarten class. They loved that they would create a craft using the letter and then use the accompanying page to learn more about the letter, practice writing it, learning the sounds it makes, etc. At the end of the year, the children were so proud that they could take this resource home and show it to their parents. It is also a great resource for Open House to show off what you have already done and what is coming.”

“I love this resource! Easy way to practice the alphabet – with cute crafts! Super adaptable based on student ability. I like to make class alphabet notebooks and it is easy to differentiate the work with all of the materials provided!”

More Interactive Notebooks

If you love this Uppercase Interactive Notebook, I have also created a notebook for lowercase letters that is just as fun! It’s available in my Interactive Alphabet Notebook Bundle. I also have a Spanish Interactive Notebook and I created a Christmas version for the holidays.

The kids love working their way through these interactive notebooks and learning about letters and letter sounds every day. I’ve received lots of positive feedback about these being amazing keepsakes that parents treasure. So much hard work and concentration goes into completing them.

I hope you enjoy using these interactive notebooks with your little learners. I’d love to hear how you use them in your classroom!

  1. Are the fonts and letters changeable if I download the document? We use dotted third lines for handwriting and formation and a Victorian Cursive font.

  2. I love this! Do you have a cursive version of the letter tracing? Or is are any of the files editable or template like?
I am looking forward to your reply so I can make my purchase.
    Thank you!
