Nursery rhymes are a fantastic way to introduce kids to rhyming and fun with words. Nursery rhymes are used all over by preschool, kindergarten, and first-grade teachers to encourage kids to rhyme and improve their reading fluency. I thought it would be fun to have nursery rhyme crafts to do after reciting popular nursery rhymes. I created 10 nursery rhyme cut-and-paste crafts that are simple to use with kids of all ages. Keep reading to learn about the different crafts I have available.
This classic nursery rhyme is a fun way to practice rhyming and reciting poems. Recite the poem with your kids and then invite them to make their own adorable sheep. The craft comes with just a few pieces to cut out and assemble. It makes a great bulletin board display when finished.
We all know the classic nursery rhyme about the clumsy egg! Create this adorable egg and don’t forget the brick wall to set him on. Make sure to use the brick wall provided, the lines are already drawn for you, so they are nice and straight.
This is a wonderful activity to use when practicing word families. This one covers the -ill word family, and kids will love using it in their small groups or independent centers. Have kids create both characters or just one, depending on how much time you have.
This is a childhood favorite, and I love the hand motions that can be done with it. Kids really enjoy twirling their fingers around and doing the motions as they recite the sweet poem. Create this colorful craft and use it to brighten your bulletin board.
Use this craft to discuss things that frighten your kids. Little Miss Muffet was startled by a spider, so let your kids share some other things that might give them a little start.
Teachers and parents love using this craft to practice rhyming and to learn about telling time. It’s a great activity to have on hand while starting time telling in first or second grade. Kids will love the fun craft, as well.
