Polar Bear in the Snow Craft

Every winter, I love to have a variety of winter crafts for my little ones to do to keep them busy. One of our favorites is this cute Polar Bear that can double as a Valentine! The rounded edges of this craft make it easy for all age levels to complete. I’m going to show you how to complete this activity and ways to use it with your kids.

All About Polar Bears Writing Craftivity

This is a great craft to accompany any animal research writing your kids may complete this year. The adorable polar bear can be posted above their amazing writing on a bulletin board or in the hallway. Students can cut out the bear’s head, body and paws and add the heart in the center. If you don’t want the heart, you could place the writing piece in the bear’s arms instead!

How to Make the Polar Bear Craft

To prepare this polar bear activity, first, print the templates on white and colorful construction paper. You will need some black paper for the ears and nose as well. Your kids can complete the activity during morning work, independent work time or as an indoor recess activity. Students will cut out the body, ears, nose, paws and the heart. Then, they can glue the pieces together and place them on a larger sheet of construction paper.

Other Ways to Use This Polar Bear Craft

For an added winter element, you can give your kids white paint and Q-tips to dab on the paper to look like snow! The little paint dots will look like snow falling around the polar bear. I usually do this part of the craft as a one on one activity to avoid any extra messes. This makes for a great time to socialize with the kids and have some conversations as they work.

The hearts can be printed in any color or you can use the coloring page template to let your students get creative with their polar bears. Let them color the bears however they want and display them outside your classroom in the winter months.

This is a great activity to help preschoolers or kindergartners learn the letters p and b. Kids love to do this type of activity at the beginning of the year while learning their letter sounds and words that begin with those sounds. You can even have them write the letter on the heart to represent the letter learned.

Polar Bear Craft as a Valentine

It’s almost February, and this polar bear can double as an adorable Valentine for your kids to give to a friend or loved one. They can cut and paste the parts of the polar bear and then write a sweet note on the heart before attaching it. The kids’ parents, grandparents and other loved ones will adore this polar bear as their Valentine!
