Simple Easter Bunny Craft for Springtime

I can’t believe that Easter is almost here! Near us, things are starting to bloom and the weather is getting a little warmer. The perfect way to celebrate Easter and all things spring is with an Easter Bunny Craft like this one. The kids get to write what would happen if you give a bunny a basket. The things they come up with are always so inventive and fun to read. Take a look at all the fun ways you can use this adorable craft.

If You Give a Bunny a Basket…

I know what you’re thinking, you wish there was a book that would accompany this cute craft. The idea behind this craft is that kids can get creative with their stories. Just like in the story, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, kids can write about all the fun adventures the bunny will go on.

Even though there isn’t a book mate, you can easily turn their creations into a book of your own. They will love reading their own creations with the class and to family and friends. If you want to start your craft activity with a story, choose one of the If You Give A.. books by Laura Numeroff to give your kids an idea of what they can write.

Some of those titles are If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, If You Give a Moose a Muffin, If You Give a Pig a Pancake, and If You Give a Dog a Donut. They are all adorable books kids will love to read over and over.

The books are a wonderful way to introduce fun sequencing ideas to the kids. Walk them through how the animals bounce from one activity to the next. Remind them that sometimes, things they see or hear may remind them of other things.

Enjoy reading these fun books and helping the kids create their own entertaining story with this Easter Bunny Craft and writing activity.

Completing the Easter Craft

This Easter Bunny Craft is easy to prep and simple to put together. Just print the template onto colored cardstock. I printed the ears and nose onto pink paper, the bunny’s face and outer ears on white, the bow on purple and blue, and the basket on brown. Choose any colors that make you happy!

Either pre-cut the templates for little fingers or let the kids practice their fine motor skills by cutting out the shapes. Glue the ears behind the bunny’s head and the paws on top of the writing template. Then, top it off with the bunny’s face and a bow.

I recommend having the kids write their pieces on the paper BEFORE gluing the writing prompt down. Writing on top of wet glue makes a mess and dried glue turns out bumpy. Once their writing is complete, it’s easy to add the paper to the top with a few dots of glue or a glue stick.

Now you have the perfect Easter or spring decoration for your bulletin board. The kids will love seeing the cute bunnies up on the walls and reading one another’s writing. If you have time, let the kids share their writing pieces with everyone else before hanging them up.

What Could My Kids Write About?

Trying to brainstorm ideas for your kids to write? Think about what you think of when you see a basket. I immediately thing of Easter and anything that can go in a basket. I might write, “If you give a bunny a basket, they will want to fill it with eggs.” I also think of flowers, so you can invite students to write about anything they might fill the basket with. You will be surprised at what they come up with.
