Apple Tree Name Craft

One of the first things kids learn to write is their names. They’re so proud when they write it too! As they get better and better at spelling their name, they will love putting it down on any paper in sight. Use this Apple Tree Name Craft to help kids put the letters of their names in order and recognize it by sight. I’ll show you how simple the craft is to complete.

What’s Included in the Apple Tree Name Craft?

This fun fall craft comes with everything you need to create a cute little apple tree with your child’s name on it. Here’s precisely what’s inside:

  • A photograph of the craft activity
  • Step-by-step directions for you to complete the craft
  • Templates that can be copied directly onto colored cardstock or construction paper and then cut out by students.
  • Labeled templates that can be xeroxed onto cardstock, cut by the teacher, and then traced onto colored paper and cut by students. Labels will include the name of the pattern, the color to use, and how many of each pattern to cut
  • Coloring templates for differentiation

How to Complete the Apple Tree Craft

My crafts are all super simple and pretty self-explanatory. Kids love them so much. Just complete a craft of your own and display it on the board for students to reference. Odds are, they will be able to complete it all on their own.

Just in case, here’s what you do!

  • First, print your templates onto colored cardstock or plain white construction paper (for coloring). Cut out the pieces or let students do it on their own.
  • Next, glue the top of the tree to the trunk and add the colorful apples. Only add as many as you need to create the child’s name. Add little green stems if you wish.
  • Then, have the child write the letters of their name on the apples. Count the apples and fill out the writing template.
  • Glue the tree, the grass, and the writing template to a blue piece of paper to represent the sky, and you’re all done!

Fun Books to Read with this Craft

We love reading books before completing a craft! Try some of these exciting titles and then put together your own Apple Tree Name Craft with your little ones.

  • How do Apples Grow by Betsy Maestro – This story outlines how apples grow as well as the parts inside of them.
  • The Apple Pie Tree by Zoe Hall – Two sweet sisters follow their apple tree through the seasons until they can finally bake a delicious apple pie.
  • Ten Apple Up On Top! by Dr. Seuss – This book is perfect for learning to count apples, which is exactly what kids will be doing in their craft.
  • The Seasons of Arnold’s Apple Tree by Gail Gibbons – This sweet book takes you through the seasons and what happens to an apple tree. It’s a nicely illustrated book and very informative.
  • I Am An Apple Tree by Brittany Jude – This is a cute tale of identity. A sweet apple seed is unsure of what he will grow up to be, but with a little faith, he continues to grow.

More Back-to-School Crafts

If you enjoy this Apple Tree Name Craft, you will love my other back-to-school crafts. I have a bundle with 4 differentiated crafts kids will love. Along with the apple tree, let kids create their own backpack, an adorable crayon, and a happy little pencil.

All four crafts have a space to add student names. The crayon even lets kids write their favorite color! Use all the crafts to make an adorable back-to-school bulletin board for the fall.

I hope you enjoy all of these fun name crafts! Happy Crafting!
