What’s Included in the Fall Scarecrow Craft?

If you have done some of my fun crafts before, you know that they come with everything you need to have fun crafting. I provide the step-by-step instructions so you know exactly how to print the templates and assemble the pieces. Included in this download are:

  • A photograph of the craft activity
  • Step-by-step directions
  • Templates that can be copied directly onto colored cardstock or construction paper and then cut out by students.
  • Labeled templates that can be xeroxed onto cardstock, cut by the teacher, and then traced onto colored paper and cut by students. Labels will include the name of the pattern, the color to use, and how many of each pattern to cut.
  • Coloring templates (a separate 2-page pdf to send to your students for distance learning)

How to Assemble the Fall Scarecrow Craft

Before putting your craft together, you will need to print your templates onto colored cardstock. Here’s what you will print each piece on:

  • Hat on tan cardstock
  • Hair and sunflower petals on yellow cardstock
  • Center of sunflower on brown cardstock
  • Scarecrow face on skin-colored cardstock
  • Cheeks on pink cardstock
  • Eyes on white cardstock
  • Nose on orange cardstock
  • Stripe for hat on blue cardstock (or any color you wish)

Here’s how you put it all together:

  1. Begin by cutting out all of your pieces.
  2. Then, glue your hat on top of the square face piece. Add the blue stripe across the hat.
  3. Next, place the hair pieces slightly under the brim of the hat.
  4. Glue the sunflower to one side of the hat.
  5. Add all of your face pieces (eyes, nose, cheeks). Draw a dashed line to represent the stitched mouth.
  6. You’re all done!

If you wish, your kids can color their own pieces instead of printing them on colorful cardstock. The coloring aspect of this craft is a great way to fill time and to further practice fine motor and coloring skills.
