When to Use a Leprechaun Craft

March is a great time to use a leprechaun craft in the classroom or at home. Here are some fun times to implement it with your kids.

  • Use the craft during March centers to practice fine motor skills.
  • Place the craft in morning work tubs to start the day.
  • Utilize the craft as a whole group lesson for following directions.
  • This craft is perfect for a classroom St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
  • Create a leprechaun or two to decorate your bulletin boards.
  • Pair the activity with a March read-aloud in the spring.

Crafts are always a great option with young kids! They foster creativity and help little hands grow. We love doing them for all seasons, occasions, and times of day.

Supplies Needed to Make the Leprechaun

You won’t need much to create this craft! Grab your school supplies and get started.

  • Glue sticks
  • Scissors
  • Colored construction paper

That’s it! There isn’t much to prep!

How to Make a Leprechaun Hat Craft

Assembling this craft is simple! Follow these step-by-step instructions to make the most adorable hat craft you’ve ever seen.

  1. Print your template on colored construction paper.
  2. Assemble the leprechaun hat, complete with the buckle.
  3. Glue the beard onto the face.
  4. Attach the face to the hat.
  5. Add the little eyes (googly eyes optional).
  6. Add writing strips or green construction paper to create the hat. Measure it around each child’s head and tape or staple it to make it stay.

Once created, kids can parade them around the classroom or the school. They will be so proud of their personal creations. Once the day is over, let them also show the hats off at home!

Fun St. Patrick’s Day Read Alouds for Kids

Reading before and after a craft is my favorite thing. It excites the kids for a fun activity and ties everything together during a lesson. As you plan your March lessons, consider using these titles to get kids in the St. Patty’s Day mood!

These titles will make your kids giggle and smile as you read them aloud. Once you read them, place them in centers or your library for them to look at again during the month.
