What is Fire Safety Week?

Fire Safety Week is usually celebrated during the month of October. It’s the perfect time to talk to kids and families about how to stay safe in case of a fire emergency. It is the longest-running public health observance in the United States, meaning it’s pretty important!

During Fire Safety Week, firefighters, teachers, parents, and other adults teach kids about the importance of fire safety in the home and at school. Kids learn about exit routes out of the house and building, they learn what to do if they smell smoke, and how to call 9-1-1 if there is a fire. Kids also learn how to Stop, Drop, and Roll if their clothing is on fire. This extremely important lesson is life-saving and you can help kids remember what to do using this craft and writing activity.
